Are you looking for information about where to stay in Ibiza? You don't know which area will be best? Are you doubting which hotel to stay in? Don't worry! The idea of this post is to help you with all those doubts, sharing with you all the details about which are the best areas and hotels in Ibiza so that after reading it, you can choose the one that best suits your needs.
Before we start, though, we think it's important for you to know that Ibiza is an island with many accommodation options despite being relatively small and that, although each of them has its own characteristics, whichever one you choose, it will be a good choice. We tell you this so that you don't get overwhelmed with this issue more than necessary, as on many occasions, especially if you don't book in advance, low availability or prices may not fit in with what you are looking for and in the end, you may have to adapt to the situation. So the best thing to do is to start your search for accommodation in Ibiza with an open mind, with the firm conviction that whatever hotel it is, you are going to enjoy it and above all, with the desire to enjoy the process of choosing a hotel.
Based on the number of times we have travelled to the island, the last time to update this post on places to see in Ibiza and this one on tips for travelling to Ibiza, as part of a route around Ibiza, we share with you a selection of the best places to stay in Ibiza and the best areas and hotels. Let's get started!
Places to stay in Ibiza
One of the most important and, above all, necessary things to do before choosing where to stay in Ibiza is to know a little about its administration and how it is divided in order to understand it better.
The island is divided into 5 municipalities, which in turn are divided into villages and parishes, which is how the smaller areas are known.
Eivissa
Sant Antoni de Portmany
Santa Eulària des Riu
Sant Josep de sa Talaia
Sant Joan de Labritja
We are going to give you recommendations on each of them so that whatever route you take, you can find an option that suits your needs. Remember that as we mentioned earlier, Ibiza is an incredible island and whichever location you choose, you're sure to enjoy it.
Cala d'Hort
1. Eivissa (Ibiza town), one of the best options to sleep in Ibiza if you don't have a car.
With an extraordinary location, one of the most beautiful historic centres of the Balearic Islands and perfectly connected to the rest of the island, the city of Eivissa is one of the best options for staying in Ibiza and having all the services you need during your trip.
Not only that, but if you stay here you will also be a stone's throw from the airport (just 6 kilometres away) and next to the port where the ferries to and from Majorca and Formentera arrive and depart. And as if all this were not enough, the city, which is also the capital of the island, has one of the best gastronomic and leisure offers, so if your idea of a trip is to enjoy the gastronomy and treat yourself to a night out in a nightclub like the emblematic Pachá Ibiza, Ibiza town will undoubtedly be a great choice.
The only thing we do recommend, although we know it may not be the most popular advice, is not to stay in the area of Dalt Vila, because although it is undoubtedly the most beautiful and lively area, if you have a car it will be more complicated to access and park and also, every day you will have to face its steep slopes.
The price of accommodation in Eivissa is usually 200 euros (high season).
Pros: The town is very well communicated and has a wide range of hotels and restaurants. In addition, you will be next to the airport and the port, so you will not waste time in transfers.
Cons: Although it has well-known beaches nearby, you don't have direct access to the beach in the city itself.
In case you are travelling to the island out of high season, this is also a great option for accommodation in Ibiza because, as we have said on several occasions, it has plenty of accommodation and restaurant options.

Here you can find several recommendations of hotels in the city of Ibiza, all of them with an excellent quality-price ratio.

2. Sant Antoni de Portmany, one of the best options for finding a cheap hotel in Ibiza
Known for being one of the most famous leisure areas on the island, San Antonio is that kind of place with a reputation for debauchery, which, although often justified, is not always so widespread as to rule out the area as a place to stay in Ibiza.
We're quite clear with this statement because the last time we went on a tour of the island we decided to stay here to get the experience and the truth is that we ended up being surprised at how good we were. Of course, even though we stayed in the village, we did so in a quiet area but only a 5-minute walk from emblematic places such as Café del Mar.
Another advantage of staying in San Antonio is that most of the accommodation is quite cheap and in many of them, the quality-price ratio is unbeatable, making this one of the cheapest areas to stay in Ibiza.
With this we want to tell you that not everything is always black and white and that on many occasions, such as when it comes to where to stay in Ibiza, you should check the information well and above all, know that not all travellers are looking for the same thing or have the same vision of the same place.
That and above all, do not demonise a place just because of what you have read, as unfortunately, there are people who talk without having been there or simply recommend things based on what others have experienced.
The price of accommodation in San Antoni de Portmany is usually 100 euros (high season).
Pros: It is very well communicated with the rest of the island and has a large number of hotels and restaurants, some of them very good.
Cons: It is one of the busiest areas of the island and at night, especially in summer, the centre is usually impossible.
When choosing a hotel in San Antonio, it is very important to check the location because if you stay in the area of the bars/discotheques, you probably won't sleep a wink all night. If, on the other hand, you stay a couple of streets up, you will be able to enjoy the best of Sant Antoni de Portmany without even hearing a voice.

3. Santa Eulària des Riu, one of the best areas to stay in Ibiza (and one of our favourites)
Another of our favourite areas to stay in Ibiza, without a doubt, is Santa Eulària des Riu. This municipality occupies almost 46 kilometres of coastline and among its parishes Santa Eulària stands out, which is the capital and is located very close to the airport and the city of Eivissa, which makes it another of the most recommended places to stay in Ibiza thanks to its location, its wide range of hotels and restaurants and for being a place where tranquillity is guaranteed for the whole family.
Looking for beaches? Don't worry, because here you will find some of the best on the island, such as Aguas Blancas, Cala Boix, Cala Llenya, Cala Llonga, Cala Martina, Cala Mastella, Es Canar and Es Figueral, among many others.
Among all the options you have to stay within the municipality, we would choose Santa Eulària, which is the locality where there is also a perfect beach for families, or Es Carnar, which in this case is a residential area, also very familiar, perfect for those who want to be close to the beach but without losing any comfort.
The price of accommodation in Santa Eulària des Riu is usually 200-300 euros (high season) and this depends largely on the area you choose to stay in.
Pros: it is a perfect area for any type of traveller, whether you are travelling to Ibiza as a family, couple, alone, with friends...etc. as it has all types of services. And if that wasn't enough, the famous Punta Arabí hippie market is also held here.
Cons: nothing.
Remember that as in the rest of the locations, if you are going to travel in high season, it is highly recommended to book as far in advance as possible, both for availability and prices.

4. Cala Tarida, the best option for family accommodation in Ibiza (if you are looking for beach and tranquillity)
If your idea of a holiday includes peace and quiet and the beach, don't hesitate: Cala Tarida is the best option to stay in Ibiza. Located just 10 minutes from San José and about 15 minutes from San Antonio, this small town is located in the bay area, which ensures the tranquillity of its waters, making it the ideal place for the little ones in the house.
Moreover, as the area is quite touristy, it has all the services, both in the town and on the beach, and a wide range of hotels and restaurants, which is perfect for not having to worry about anything else but enjoying your trip.
The price of accommodation in Cala Tarida is usually 200 euros (high season).
Pros: This is the widest beach in this part of the island, so you will always find a quiet place, even in high season, despite being so touristy.
Cons: The area, despite being so touristy, doesn't have many hotels and most of the ones that do exist don't have the best reviews on the internet. If your idea of a trip to Ibiza includes a lot of nights out or if you like to move around, we would rule out Cala Tarida as the area is quite quiet.
In case you don't find any accommodation option that fits your needs, remember that Sant Antoni de Portmany is very close so it can always be an alternative.

5. Playa d'en Bossa, the most famous leisure area to stay in Ibiza.
Known for being one of the most popular areas to stay in Ibiza, Playa d'en Bossa is a place that, like San Antonio, provokes love and hate in equal parts in travellers. But let's take it one step at a time before deciding whether you are one of those who will pass it by or end up surrendering to its charms (which are not few, believe it or not).
Located next to the city of Ibiza, just 4 kilometres from Dalt Vila by car, this tourist town can boast the longest beach on the island as well as having the largest leisure offer in Ibiza, something that has caused some travellers to discard it as a place to stay.
If you have decided to give it a chance or at least give it a try, we assure you that you won't regret it because during the day, Playa d'en Bossa is a beach where you can find everything from peace and quiet in the areas furthest from the centre, perfect for enjoying with the family, to the Balinese beds in some Beach Clubs, where you can spend a very pleasant and relaxing day with your partner or friends.
And at night, if you want to have fun, you can do so thanks to its infinite range of leisure activities, including Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza, although we assure you that there is an option for every type of traveller and the main thing is that Playa d'en Bossa is not all about debauchery.
The price of accommodation in Playa d'en Bossa is usually 250-300 euros (high season).
Pros: Whatever type of traveller you are, in Playa d'en Bossa you will find everything you are looking for in Ibiza. In addition, the range of hotels and restaurants is very wide and covers a wide range of budgets.
Cons: The area is often demonised as being excessively touristy and unbridled, which at certain times of the year and in certain areas may be true, but it is not always something generalised or something that excludes enjoyment if, in your case, you are not looking for nightlife.
Being such a touristy area, most hotels have quite high prices, so we recommend you book as far in advance as possible to avoid the very high prices that tend to be quoted when the high season is approaching.

6. Cala Sant Vicenç, another of the best places to sleep in Ibiza.
Looking for peace and quiet? Then Cala Sant Vicenç may be the perfect option to stay in Ibiza. Located in the northern part of the island, away from the most famous tourist locations, this place is a unique opportunity to get to know the most relaxed part of the island, without giving up any comfort.
Moreover, you will be relatively close to Portinatx, another of our favourite areas of the island, where you can also stay if you feel like staying in a quiet place.
The price of accommodation in Cala San Vicente is usually 175-200 euros (high season).
Pros: The tranquillity even in the middle of summer.
Cons: Being an area that is not so developed in terms of tourism, the accommodation options are considerably reduced.
Despite being a less developed area, as far as tourism is concerned, you will have no problem finding all the services you might need, including restaurants for lunch or dinner.

Our recommended accommodation to stay in Ibiza
As we mentioned at the beginning of the post, the last time we were on the island, we chose to look for a hotel in San Antonio, in order to be close to everything, as we were going to do a route around the island and also to have the experience of staying in an area considered a leisure area and to know if we could recommend it or not. Definitely, after being there for a week, we can only recommend it as the location is perfect, close to Ibiza town, the airport and the port and also with a gastronomic offer with an unbeatable value for money.
The accommodation we chose was the Hostal Can Beia, right in the centre and very close to all points of interest, including the seafront promenade and some of the best restaurants, but in a quiet street. It is also very close to the town's free parking areas, making it one of the best places to stay in Ibiza.

Best hotels in Ibiza
In addition to all the recommendations of hotels in Ibiza that we have included in this post, all with an excellent quality-price ratio and also perfect for any type of traveller, we do not want to leave out some options that, due to their special characteristics, have become some of the best hotels in Ibiza.
Tips for finding cheap accommodation in Ibiza
We know that it is not easy to find cheap hotels in Ibiza and even less so in high season, but it is also true that by taking into account some tips and above all, putting them into practice, it is much easier to find an option that fits your budget and you can enjoy the island without leaving your wallet on the trip.
As we have repeated on several occasions, one of the most important things, if you don't want to spend too much on accommodation in Ibiza, is to book as far in advance as possible. This will allow you to find more options and, above all, at more affordable prices.
Remember that Sant Antoni de Portmany, despite its bad reputation, is a very interesting option if you are on a tight budget. Although it is an area known for its somewhat unbridled tourism, if you stay in a quiet area, you won't even notice it.
If you're driving around the island, we recommend staying in a hotel near a free car park. In most towns there is always a free parking area or, if there is a blue zone, the prices are very reasonable.
If you can't find an option that fits your budget, you can try travelling in June or September as these months, although still very touristy on some occasions, have lower prices.
Remember that to avoid paying commissions and to always have the current exchange rate, we recommend you use the Revolut card and the N26 card, which are the ones we use, are free and will save you a lot of money.
